Torredembarra is one of those fishing towns that arouses the interest of anyone who has enjoyed travelling around the Tarragonés region. The town is located to the northeast of Tarragona and only 80 km from Barcelona, where it is possible to enjoy all the opportunities offered by the big cities and the tranquillity of the outskirts.
Not sure why you should choose Torredembarra? Here are a few reasons:
YOUR CLIMATE
Torredembarra enjoys mild temperatures during the winter, averaging around 10 degrees in January, and hot summers. Its climate is typical of the Mediterranean coast, which allows the town to be enjoyed in any season.
ITS BEACHES
One of the main attractions of Torredembarra are its beaches. They stand out for their fine golden sand and their quality, achieving year after year the Blue Flag as a quality distinction. This, together with its mild climate all year round, allows you to enjoy the sea and the nature that surrounds the town all year round.
Along with the beaches of Torredembarra and Creixell, residents of Mar de Torredembarra can enjoy the beaches of Altafulla and Tamarit less than 3 km away.
ITS ARCHITECTURE
The architectural richness is present everywhere in the town thanks to its combination of styles. The passage of history and, with it, its architectural and artistic richness, has been reflected in Torredembarra through numerous buildings full of meaning.
Under the umbrella of the Renaissance, we can find the Castle, the current seat of the Town Hall and the only civil building of the Catalan Renaissance that is preserved in Catalonia. Following in its wake is the parish church of San Pere, which houses a Baroque organ dating from 1705.
The Baroque style Pere Badia's residence, which dates back to the 18th century and was originally a charitable hospital, stands out. The Torre de la Vila, in Mudejar style, is the oldest remaining building in the town, probably dating from the 12th or 13th century.
Modernism makes its presence felt in the Antoni Roig Building, a former school that was founded thanks to a donation from the Torrense indiano Antoni Roig i Copons.
ITS GASTRONOMY
The Mediterranean diet is very present in the restaurants and bars of the area, combining the flavours of the sea with those of the land as well as local quality products. Dishes such as "Bull marinero" and "Ranxets" stand out. In addition, if you want to enjoy culinary activities apart from what the locals have to offer, the Municipal Tourist Board organises annual Gastronomic Days and Samples, together with the Bull Day.
THEIR LEISURE AND SPORT
Torredembarra will allow you to enjoy outdoor activities all year round thanks to the good climate that prevails in the area.
The city organises more than 600 activities a year, including leisure, cultural and sporting events for all ages. Of particular importance in this agenda is the town's port.
